DESCRIPTION

DescriptionPale silk dress with belt. Exact date unknown but likely in her last year, so 1936. Written on bottom of photo "Dorothy Smith. MLC boarders' Sunday uniform."

"Resident Students' Notes" (1933 Silver and Green, p. 5) mentioned what appears to be these uniforms: "In biege [sic] spun silk frocks molded to the figure, beige boater hats trimmed with bottle-green bands, and light gloves to match, the boarders made an impressive picture as they entered church in their customary "Croc." [i.e. the lines in which they walked to church] , on the first Sunday of the year..."

This is believed to be the only photo in the Archives showing this boarders' uniform.
