DescriptionIn 1990, MLC became the first school in the world to introduce a 1:1 laptop program where every student in Year 5-12, as well as every teacher, was provided a laptop. The initiative was led by then Principal, David Loader, with significant input from many other MLC Staff and external educational researcher Dr Liddy Nevile.
The introduction of this program had many profound impacts for the school. It occurred during a time where computers were rare in classrooms, but was the start of a shift away from purely teacher-led instruction to inquiry-based, collaborative and independent learning. Students developed strong digital literacy and confidence using technology creatively, right from the point where it was first becoming more commonly used.Date1990 -
