Tiddeman House

On November 23, 1881 Reverend George Daniel (President of the Methodist Conference of Australia) laid the cornerstone for Tiddeman House. Then, simply known as the main building, was built in several stages, with only the west wing being finished in time for the schools first year in 1882. The tower and east wing were finished in 1885. For many years, Tiddeman House was the sole building for classrooms, administrative offices, boarding quarters and residence staff quarters. Founding Principal, Reverend Dr William Henry Fitchett, spared no expense on its construction, resulting in one of the finest examples of academic gothic buildings in Melbourne.
